I have been doing drawings for my journal. I’ve been drawing
humans mostly and animals – just like tigers, lions – the lions I copied by a
snowflake that Mariah did. She made a mistake snowflake and it turned out to be
a lion for me! I copied it by drawing.

watned to do a portrait for mom. It took one day. It took me a while because I
lost the pencils I was working with (giggle!). I like that I did framing.

I had so much fun molding the charms into little animals or into smiley food. The first charm I made was an octopus with a top hat and a mustashe.
.1.roll five balls, one big ball, four small.
.2. turn the big ball into a head shape
.3. turn the four small balls into four snakes and stick two together and then stick the other two together, now you have two wide snakes
.4.then you put the two wide snakes on top of the other to make an X
.5. then you stick the head on top of the X
.6. then you shape the X into eight arms.
.7. bake the charm
.8. draw a face.
I felt so happy when we were doing the charms.
I made ten charms my favorite was the flying pig. the flying pig was really fun to make because it was fun to have some imagination and to create a flying animal that does not usually fly.
I also made a multi colored fish and chameleon.
Mariah and i have been dying to make them so finally mom said why dont you do your clay charms with grandmak so we asked grandmak would do are clay charms with us!!!!

She of course said yes... if she didn't i would not be writing about it!

I was really excited because i had been looking forward to it!

The first step is to make the clay figure you want! ( there was a book with instructions on how to make a dog or a cat!)

Next step is to stick a charm hanger in it. I would suggest you would bunch up the clay around the charm hanger!!!

The third step is to make sure your oven is the right temature. Then you put the clay charms in the oven and wait for 15 minets I think!

While I was making the charms I felt calm and frustrated!?! I felt calm because I LOVE to play with clay!!!!!!!!!! Why i felt frustrated was because I didn't like the feeling of clay under my nails!!!!!!
And then on the day after boxing day, I lost another one! 'Cause the second one had to come out because it was sideways.

I like that I put my tooth in a container under my pillow. I like that I can see my tooth when it falls out. And I can see my new teeth come in. I like that the Tooth Fairy brings me money.

I don't like that it hurts losing it.
My next teeth that are wiggly are my top two front teeth. I'm working on them!Leannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06025187887866513342noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2400818017241610817.post-75816226114380254372014-01-03T12:31:00.005-08:002014-01-03T12:31:56.620-08:00I have a job! by MakaylaOver the Christmas holidays I painted two paintings for my relatives who bought them!
It was surprising how little work that had to be done on a small painting compared to the big ones!

The paintings that we painted were Peter Rabbit and a Ted Harrison painting! Mariah and I both worked on the paintings! I designed the bottom of the the Ted Harrison painting and I designed the background of the Peter Rabbit painting! ( Except the big tree!)

While making the paintings I felt excited to see how they would turn out and kinda frustrated?!? We had to be very patient with each other!!! Which was because we each had our share of different ideas!

My favorite part was seeing how they turned out and giving my relatives the paintings!
liked all the art that was for sale. The gallery was even more astonishing. How
people made fabric art – you could add just a dot of fabric and it was
considered fabric art. But if you had no fabric then it wouldn’t be counted as
a fabric art.

I liked that we knew an artist who was in the show because it was
like a search and find – cause I got to look for her art – her name is Phyllis
Lysionek. I really liked these fabric flowers that you could pin
anywhere you wanted. I also liked pin cushions. I really liked this owl fabric
picture – it was a landscape with an owl hunting. It was cool. I was inspired to make some fabric arts – in
fact, I am working on a fabric art piece – I am making a picture of an owl out
of different fabrics and I will sew them together. My grandma K is helping me
with this on Mondays.

At the gallery I felt inspired, excited and calm. I
learned about owning an art gallery –
the curator was there and answered questions mom had. I heard that it can be
busy and then sometimes quiet. But when a customer comes in, you can talk to
them about the art, especially if you have an art show. It is not a great place
to do your own art, but you can do your own art at home. The art gallery’s
owner was an artist as well and she had somethings in the show. They were
really pretty.

Massively Mini Art Show on display. We found out about it from our friend Angie

today we went to look at it and there was some really cool stuff there! We saw
a lot of mini paintings done in acrylic.

thought “Why would someone do the same art and put it in the same gallery –
make different pieces!” But I also thought “these paintings are cool”. Now, I
think it’s a pretty cool idea to do the same art over again with different

Our funniest video was when we had someone sing in the background and the person in the video lip sync. For example, we had Samantha lip sync while Mariah sang in the background.
We also sang some Mariah Carey songs like "All I want for Christmas is you" and Makayla lip synced while Mariah sang in the background. Which I am really good at that!

We have been exploring video and picture this week and it has been very fun. The app we did it in is called Photo Booth and there are many settings you can put it on. We made quite a few with mirror. Our favourite is mirror.

The science workshop was really fun. I learned how to make a
lava lamp and Goo (known as flubber). All you need to make the lava lamp is a
big pop bottle and cooking oil and water and food dye and alkaseltzer. We tried
an experiment to see if hot water makes the lava lamp more bubbly. My
hypothesis was right: the hot water makes the lava lamp more bubbly. But we
also found out… the cold water made it bubble longer!

I wrote down all the
ingredients, I wrote down my hypothesis and I wrote down my conclusion. We keep
our science books at Niki’s home. First you pour the hot water (or cold water)
into the pop bottle (1 dry measuring cup); then you pour the oil up to where
you want your lava lamp to be; then you wait for it to settle; then you put the
food dye in – what ever colour you want; then you stir it around with a stick
(a stick that you can get dye on); then add the alkaseltzer and it will explode
(don’t worry – it won’t explode on your table!) – it actually brings bubbles up
to the top of your oil and it doesn’t get out of the bottle (you don’t have to
have a lid) and it looks really cool – just like a lava lamp!

This week we went to Angie’s for an art class. It was a lot
of fun. We made some masks and my mask is a First Nations mask. It is the
raven, half sun. It is a Haida First Nations mask. I chose the Haida mask
because Angie had a few Haida books because her husband is Haida. And I thought
the raven and the sun were cool. I felt quite excited and joyful and I also
felt questionable – in case it wasn’t going to turn out. It was nice problem
solving with an adult because Angie knows a lot of math (we used a lot of math
to figure out what measure I needed to make it round and perfect) and she knows
a lot about art. I am most proud about how much work I put into it and how much
I love first nations art – I like when they say it’s amazing : )

This week we had my friends over and went down to the river to see the salmon spawning. I really liked seeing the fish that close up – you could
touch them if you had arms like my dad! It was really cool – we had races with
them: we would see whichever one would make it across this really hard rapid.
None of the fish that I voted for got through it. I named one Sharon – I sure
hope she made it! It was a joke that I named her Sharon because Kahlil and I
were ‘sharing’ her!! I really liked doing it with my friends and seeing the
awesome fish.

And how he did lots of cubist art. We were inspired by that art and we tried it. That process was quite interesting...how art can actually look crazy and strange and beautiful and insane.
I chose to do a cat first because Mom was doing a cat and in case I got a bit mixed up I could ask her. It only made sense to me to do a cat. Once I got the concept then I did a portrait of myself! It was a bit hard but it made sense to me. I like how it looks. I look a bit strange but I got used to it. It's a new piece of art - I hadn't seen that kind of style before.

We got books from the library on Picasso and we read some of those - I liked the stories told about him. I also copied one of his sketches that wasn't cubist.Leannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06025187887866513342noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2400818017241610817.post-43120840823412450392013-10-20T19:33:00.003-07:002013-10-20T19:33:31.280-07:00Garden Club - by Samantha

So, there is this club and it is called Garden Club. So we
made bird feeders out of milk cartons – so we put some holes in it and cut some

feeder (as my drawing). And string in the lid.

Today I learned how to search the internet for something I
needed. I wanted to unlock some characters on Mario Kart Wii. I asked mom on
the phone how do you search for Mario kart information? She told me the steps
on the phone [open Safari; go to File and open new window; then type in on
Google specific what you want] and I looked It up and then I watched a video on
how and then I read how to! Then I went to set up the wii but the wii didn’t
set up properly. So then I waited until Mom came home, but while Mom was still
out I was looking Mario Kart on my ipod – looking at Apps and searching for
Mario Kart – and then I found an app that told me how to unlock characters,
worlds, and different cars and other stuff that I don’t even know about yet!

We played a lot of fun games to test our brain and our listening skills.
One of the games was to make a marshmallow cage for this ‘elixir of life’ which
was a hacky sack. Then the hacky sack ball could not be touched by a mortal
hand! So we had to work together to work with strings and pull and move side to
side until we got it into our marshmallow cage.

Another game was Minotaur maze
– the workshop leader told everyone to close their eyes and one person was
chosen to be the Minotaur and the rest of the players would be goddesses – they
would hop on one foot to get to the other side of the backyard, and the
Minotaur would have to do somersaults or run across to get there.

learning with others. I am a very good runner too.

It was really sad because in the book a little kitten named Puff died but a lot of pets died because of the anti freeze stuff. You use antifreeze for your car or your boat to keep it warm in the winter and cold in the summer. Luckily they found where all the anti freeze was coming from – a boat in a river had carelessly spilled it. I felt sad, calm, excited, happy, anxious at different times reading the novel – sometimes even at the same time –like sad and anxious, or sometimes just relief! I am starting another vet volunteers book – the one that came before the first one I read. The first one I read was number 14.
We entered our dog in a pet parade. And she was a cheshire cat. And we walked around the building two times and my friend Amara was there. I saw a hamster - it was really little and in a cage. Our friend Paige was also there and there was another dance girl too. I would give a trophy to Cocoa cause she was the cutest costume there! And our uncle's dog Abbey also came with us and I wanted a ribbon so bad and I got one after Mariah and Makayla. I was dressed up as Alice, Mariah was the runaway rabbit, and Makayla was dressed as the Mad Hatter, and Abbey was dressed up as queen of hearts. I loved it! But we had to do a lot of waiting.Leannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06025187887866513342noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2400818017241610817.post-78975733891530070072013-10-02T11:43:00.002-07:002013-10-02T12:37:11.374-07:00Having Fun in the Fort - by MakaylaMakayla's describing her fort (click on this link)
I love how it feels like we're roughing it outside - using some nails and a big ol' rock!
