The Vet Pals - by Makayla
This week I read a really fantastic novel. It’s called Vet Volunteers and when I grow up I want to be a vet volunteer or work with animals. I really like reading about it in a book because then it gives me ideas and hope for it actually happening in real life. It actually did happen….well, I volunteered at a cat rescue place in Sooke. And I hope I could go there twice a week! But we have a pretty tight schedule.
Anyways, my novel is about antifreeze and how it kills animals off completely – like 3 hours and they’re dead. It was really sad because in the book a little kitten named Puff died but a lot of pets died because of the anti freeze stuff. You use antifreeze for your car or your boat to keep it warm in the winter and cold in the summer. Luckily they found where all the anti freeze was coming from – a boat in a river had carelessly spilled it. I felt sad, calm, excited, happy, anxious at different times reading the novel – sometimes even at the same time –like sad and anxious, or sometimes just relief! I am starting another vet volunteers book – the one that came before the first one I read. The first one I read was number 14.
